Abstract:The urban core area has a high development intensity and valuable land resources. The structural pattern of "small blocks and dense road network" is helpful for traffic alleviation, but high density development leads to prominent contradictions between transportation supply and demand. Building an underground vehicle travel system composed of "underground main roads - underground garage connection roads - underground garages" helps to enhance the traffic diversion capacity of the core area, which can not only achieve the rapid arrival and departure of traffic vehicles, but also release the ground space and share the underground resources, thereby improving the environmental quality of the core area. The travel characteristics and traffic system composition of the urban core area are analyzed. Based on the domestic underground vehicle travel system engineering cases, the applicability and diversity of the three-dimensional underground vehicle travel system in the urban core area are discussed from the aspects of system composition, structural form and traffic organization. And the corresponding overall form layout and traffic management measures are proposed in order to provide the references for similar projects.
