Abstract:Taking a bridge with a deck elevation of only 5.5 m and a length of about 2.2 km at the low bridge position around the island within the fjord at the southwest side of Hengqin Island in Zhuhai as an example, the system selection of bridge structure at the low bridge position, the section design of superstructure and the design of substructure are specially discussed. The finite element analysis is carried out for the calculation of wave force, and the influences of considering or not considering wave force on the bridge structure at the low bridge position. The results show that the bridge structure all meets the requirements of the code under the conditions of considering or not considering the wave force. This bridge case can provide a reference for the construction of low-position bridges around offshore islands.
