With the development of economy and society, the public demand for the quality of street space is increasing. The roads that used to focus only on motor vehicles have been unable to meet residents" longing for street life and community belonging, so it is urgent to promote the transformation of roads from "car oriented" to "people oriented". This paper takes the space quality improvement project of Jiefang Road in Changsha city as an example, combines the change of changsha citizens" travel needs, starts from the upgrading of cognitive concept, systematically analyzes the overall idea of street quality improvement, and puts forward quality improvement strategies and measures based on the problem-oriented and goal-oriented. It is pointed out that the composite function of street should be enhanced to form a safe and orderly, green, low-carbon and dynamic environment space.
