Based on the planning opportunity of Nantong New Airport, from the perspective of the integration of the Yangtze River Delta, the road network structure in the northern area of Shanghai will be studied. Taking Shanghai S12, S22, S7 and S16 as the research objects, the form of the provincial road network in the northern area of the city is summarized through the exhaustive method. Research shows that there are different planning comparisons for planned road networks based on S12, S22 and S7. The northern road network presents eight different combinations, and the functions of the northern road network are different under different forms. Research shows that the road network forms one and two (S22 suburban ring extension, S7 Shanghai crosses the river, and airport expressway) have a regular overall form, clear trunk line functions, and more in line with the northern road network functions.
