With the rapid development of urban economy, the requirements for the perfection of the urban road network are getting higher and higher. Due to the limitation of urban land and meeting the needs of district service functions, the upgrading of the old urban roads into expressways has become a major trend. Relying on the Datong City South Middle Ring Expressway Reconstruction Project, some problems existing in the upgrading and reconstruction of the old roads into the elevated expressways are analyzed and studied, which provides some ideas for the upgrading projects of old roads in the future.
