Xiling 2nd Road Expressway is an important component of the "one horizontal" in the "four-vertical and five-horizontal" expressway network in Yichang City. The expressway is rebuilt from the existing roads located in the prosperous downtown area of the city, which can build and perfect the urban skeleton road network, connect the two banks of Changjiang River, break the shackles of railways and expressways, expand the urban framework, strengthen the connection between the groups along the route and ease the urban traffic congestion. The overall scheme of the project is systematically introduced. The comparisons of expressway mode, sectional layout, horizontal and vertical design, and main node schemes are specially discussed.
