The development process of urban alfalfa-leaf interchange is briefly described. The main problems existing in urban alfalfa-leaf interchange are analyzed such as the serious interweaving of interchange mainline, the insufficient traffic capacity of left turn ramp and the low service level of auxiliary roads. The reconstruction ideas of adding the distribution lanes, reconstructing transforming circular ramp and connecting auxiliary road are put forward. Taking the reconstruction of Luojiazui Interchange in Changsha as an example, the corresponding reconstruction scheme is given according to the traffic analysis and reconstruction ideas.
